After his father’s sudden death in November of 1998, the prophesy of him being his father’s successor came to pass and the mantle had fallen on him. The Lord has anointed Pastor Young with the measure of wisdom, discernment, compassion, and leadership skills needed in order to shepherd His flock in spite of his then young age of 25. Today, Pastor Young continues to seek the Lord with all his heart for guidance, direction, and truth in all things and the Lord continues to bless him and the Bible Way Church family.

Since he began to pastor, Pastor Young installed the B.R.Y. Computer Lab, led the church to purchase a van in order to transport those who have no means of transportation to the church; began a youth ministry that involves taking the young people to the jail and teaching them the results of making the wrong decisions; partnered the church with Community Youth Alliance (CYA) and Tickets for Kids Foundation to provide young people with tutoring, and means to attend various events such as Pittsburgh Pirates games, Heinz Hall, Carnegie Science Center and many other events throughout the Pittsburgh & tri-state area. The Lord has also moved Pastor Young to purchase property on which to build a Community Center.

Not only does he minister at and for Bible Way, Pastor Young is actively involved in the Erie District Churches of God in Christ, Western Pennsylvania,. He has preached in many diverse areas of the vineyard, including the First Jurisdictional Churches of God in Christ of Western Pennsylvania Spring Workers’ Meeting under the leadership of Bishop James M. Foster, and EMFAC – under the leadership of Presiding Bishop L. D. Skinner, Sr., in Columbus, GA. Within the community, Pastor Young utilizes his positions as United Way Campaign Committee Member and NABCO Federal Credit Union Auxiliary Member to witness to souls on every level no matter their economic or social status.

In 2014 Pastor Young was selected as one of “100 Most Influential Pastor’s” in the National Churches of God In Christ that has approximately 12,000 Pastor’s throughout the US and the World. Pastor Young and Lady Shannon are leaders with a tremendous heart for God’s people. They are anointed leaders, with great faith In God. In 2017, Pastor Young was appointed and installed as the Erie District COGIC Assistant Superintendent by Bishop James M. Foster of the Western Pennsylvania 1st Jurisdiction. Later on he was also appointed over the Pastor’s and Elder’s Council over Western PA First Jurisdiction as Assistant Chairman.

Pastor Young has been married to his wife, First Lady Shannon M. Young, since 1994. They live in New Castle, PA where they raise their four children, John IV, Alex, Joshua, and Savannah. Pastor John E. Young III is a proven spiritual leader and testified in that He’s saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost!
